The Rhema Foundation is a nonprofit, Christian service organization whose primary mission is to reach the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community to show God's unconditional love for ALL people, regardless of race, age, gender or sexual orientation. Rhema, which means "the living Word," strives to bring God's Word into action through programs that improve the spiritual, economic and physical lives of members of the community.
Rhema works to develop programs and opportunities that build complete individuals, with the goal of developing a strong community. Rhema has counselors who specialize in dealing with "at-risk" individuals, ministers who can address spirituality issues, instructors with specialized skills in computer and business training as well as leadership development. Rhema has partnered with various industry experts to host a Financial Freedom seminar, worked with the DC Center to teach business skills training, and worked with individuals to give one-on-one life skills training and personal counseling.
Future plans for the Rhema Foundation include creating "Extended Family Groups" to foster discussion on various topics that effect individuals and the community at large, creating mentoring opportunities for youth and young adults, and establishing the Rhema Center, which will serve as a safe place for families and individuals to have fun, meet new people and share thoughts and ideas.
